Stepping Into Your Spiritual Authority

As we hear the Word of God and begin to understand our places in His divine plan—a plan for good and not evil (Jeremiah 29:11 KJV)—we begin to recognize the authority that is already ours through Christ. This authority isn’t something earned through works—it is our legal right as a child of God, granted the moment we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

“But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God…” John 1:12 (KJV)

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)

A man in a business suit is shown stepping confidently out of a white cube structure placed in an open grassy field beneath a bright blue sky with scattered white clouds. The scene symbolizes breaking free from limitations or confinement.

When we confess with our mouths and believe in our heart that Jesus is Lord (Romans 10:9 KJV), we were spiritually born again. But, like newborns in the natural, spiritual maturity takes time. Growth into our God-ordained leadership role comes as we seek God, thirst for His promises, and spend time learning Who He is through His Word.

“Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation.” 1 Peter 2:2 (NIV)

Some believers grow quickly because they hunger deeply. They invest time in study, worship, and intimacy with God. As we do the same, we begin to grasp our spiritual authority—not just as a gift, but as a responsibility.

God promotes the faithful. We may start by being faithful in small tasks, but when we work as unto the Lord and align our actions with Kingdom principles, He begins to entrust us with more.

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much...” Luke 16:10 (NIV)

As we walk in awareness of our partnership with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—our divine guide—we gain confidence to speak and act with boldness. We can now tread on serpents, symbolic of your authority over every evil scheme.

“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Luke 10:19 (KJV)

This life of victory doesn’t allow room for laziness, fear, or unforgiveness. We are called to occupy until Jesus comes (Luke 19:13 KJV), which means staying busy with our Father's business. We don't retreat from battles—we take territory for the Kingdom.

As I studied God's Word, I envisioned myself standing boldly in the courts of Heaven, declaring:

“I come before You, Father God, and ask this day that Jesus is my witness as I command:
‘Satan, I command you to flee in this situation—[name your current battle]—now, in Jesus’ name!’”

I know the Word is true. It says:

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7 (KJV)

That means the enemy has no legal right to stay. The victory is mine, and I expect it to manifest. I picture my life walking in this new level of freedom. I can see that I’ve grown another spiritual muscle, and now I have greater strength to plow through enemy territory and reclaim what belongs to the Kingdom of God.

Let’s make this journey joyful. Let’s have fun living this victorious spiritual life where we are more than conquerors. Defeat no longer belongs to us.

 Declaration:

I declare that I have been given spiritual authority through Jesus Christ. I boldly resist the enemy, and he must flee. I am growing daily in strength, wisdom, and leadership. I walk in victory, take territory for God’s Kingdom, and live fearlessly, full of joy and purpose. Defeat has no place in me.

 Prayer:

Father God,
Thank You for inviting me into a life of spiritual victory and purpose. I receive the authority You have given me through Christ. Help me grow in maturity, wisdom, and faithfulness. I want to be found trustworthy in the small things, so that I may walk boldly in greater things. I rebuke fear, laziness, and unforgiveness, and I choose to live in joy, power, and responsibility. I will use every battle to strengthen my spirit and reclaim Kingdom ground. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
