Turn Hardships into Victories

A sharp red dart rests perfectly in the bull’s-eye of a dartboard, with the overlaid caption reading, “Refined faith always leads us to a place of victory, without exception.”

An extension on Emotion + Determination = Victory

Living in this world, we will all face disappointments and trials that test our faith. Yet if we allow the Holy Spirit to work in us and through us, every negative circumstance can be transformed into a positive one. Our trials refine our faith, and refined faith always leads us to a place of victory; without exception.

Some may ask, “How can we be so sure?” The answers are found throughout the Bible. God has filled His Word with precious promises, nuggets of gold we must seek, believe, and apply. He is not a man that He should lie (Numbers 23:19, NKJV). His plans are only good and never evil (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV). Though the devil is allowed to tempt and test us, it’s only so that we may learn to overcome evil with good and reveal God’s glory in our lives.

Even when we make mistakes or drift from God's perfect path, He still makes a way. He provides a “Plan B,” and even that plan leads to victory. Romans 8:28 (ESV) says, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

Whether you're facing heartbreak, financial setbacks, legal issues, or sickness, if you listen to the Holy Spirit and apply the truths of God’s covenant, secured by Jesus’ blood, you cannot be defeated. Victory is inevitable for those who live by God’s Word.

Step 1: Control Your Thoughts

Victory begins in your mind.

Matthew 15:18 (KJV)
“But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.”

Luke 6:45 (KJV)
“A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good... for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.”

When your mind is flooded with fear and worst-case scenarios, immediately lift your voice in praise and thanksgiving. Gratitude disarms fear.

Philippians 4:6–7 (NIV)
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God… will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

When you don’t know what to pray, let the Spirit intercede.

Romans 8:26 (KJV)
“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities... but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”

If you have not yet received the gift of speaking in tongues, ask the Holy Spirit for it. This powerful gift helps you pray in alignment with God’s perfect will, even when you lack the words.

Step 2: Declare God’s Word

After taking control of your thoughts, find Scriptures that address your situation and declare them daily. Speak the promises of God out loud, often, and with authority.

Proverbs 18:21 (NKJV)
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”

Speak life, not fear. Speak victory, not defeat. Make the Word of God your constant meditation and confession until the breakthrough arrives.

Also, do not share your struggle with just anyone. Seek out a trusted, Spirit-filled believer who will agree with you in faith, not in fear.

Matthew 18:19 (NIV)
“If two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.”

Step 3: Never Give Up

Persistence is the path to promise.

Galatians 6:9 (NLT)
“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessings if we don’t give up.”

Keep declaring your victory. Keep your heart full of thanksgiving for what God has already done, and for what’s on the way.

Declarations:

  • I turn every hardship into victory by the power of God’s Spirit within me.

  • I do not speak fear, I speak faith. I do not give in, I press forward.

  • I declare that all things in my life are working together for my good.

  • My thoughts are aligned with God’s truth, and my words create life and victory.

  • I overcome every temptation, delay, and attack by the blood of Jesus.

  • I am more than a conqueror through Christ who strengthens me (Romans 8:37, NKJV).

Prayer:

Father God,
Thank You for Your promise that all things, even my setbacks and struggles, are working together for my good. Holy Spirit, I yield to You. Work in me and through me. Help me to get my thoughts in line with Your Word and my words in line with Your will. I speak victory over every area of my life. I trust in Your covenant, secured by Jesus’ blood. I declare that I will never give up, and I will always give You the glory. What the enemy meant for evil, You are turning for good, and I receive it now by faith.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
