wicked, lazy servant!” God clearly desires us to grow and multiply what He gives us—not just financially, but also spiritually and in service to others.
Scripture teaches that wealth itself is not evil, but our attitude toward it matters greatly. Deuteronomy 8:18 (NKJV) reminds us, “And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant.” God gives us the ability to gain wealth for a purpose—to advance His kingdom. However, 1 Timothy 6:10 (NKJV) warns, “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil,” showing us that misplaced affection for money leads to destruction. The Bible also supports wise financial planning and investment. Proverbs 21:5 (NIV) says, “The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty,” while Ecclesiastes 11:2 (NIV) advises, “Invest in seven ventures, yes, in eight; you do not know what disaster may come upon the land,” encouraging us to be prudent and prepared.
God wants His people to be faithful, strategic, and generous stewards. We are called to multiply what He entrusts to us, avoid fear and laziness, and use wealth to bless others and fulfill His purposes. When we operate in alignment with His Word, we position ourselves to walk in the fullness of His provision and promise.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for entrusting me with Your resources. Teach me to be a wise and faithful steward. Help me overcome fear, laziness, and selfishness, and instead walk in diligence, integrity, and generosity. May everything I manage be used to glorify You and advance Your kingdom. Empower me with the wisdom, discipline, and courage to grow and multiply what You’ve placed in my hands. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
